Emergency Funds

The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut manages several funds that serve the needy in northwest Connecticut. Qualified representatives from local social service agencies are welcome to download applications for these funds (via the links below), fill them out with their clients, and return them to us with any necessary supporting documentation. The Benas and Coe funds are primarily meant to assist in the care, support, and housing-related repairs of needy residents.

*** Please note that we do NOT make any grants to individuals -- we will only provide assistance through a representative from a social service agency, and any grant checks will be made directly to the service provider (contractor, utility company, etc.) rather than to the applicant.

The descriptions of the funds are as follows:

The Lena Benas Memorial Fund -- primarily serves residents of Litchfield, as well as adjacent towns (including Torrington)

The Marion I. Coe Fund -- primarily serves residents of Litchfield, and also Warren, Morris, and Goshen (does NOT serve Torrington)

The Caleb J. Camp Fund -- serves residents of Winsted who have lived there for at least the last five years

Completed applications may be faxed to us at (860) 489-7517 or mailed to us at: P.O. Box 1144, Torrington, CT 06790. Applications must be completely filled out by the social service provider in order to be considered, and must be accompanied by the relevant documentation needed to process the application (for example, a recent utility bill, if that is the need for which assistance is requested).
